Event Host Guide

You run the show. This guide takes you from an empty lobby to a crowned champion: getting players onto the server, scheduling games, keeping teams balanced, and wrapping up cleanly.

Before you start

Hosting uses two toolsets: the in-game tournament menu (teams, games, scores) and the proxy-level event commands (the ticket lottery that decides who gets a seat). Both are unlocked by the Host rank.

You needPermissionUnlocks
Host rank (in-game)prophunt.gamemasterThe /tournament menu and all team commands
Host rank (network)eventproxy.hostThe lottery (/event) and server control

The Host rank grants both permissions. If /tournament opens but /event says you lack permission (or vice versa), your rank was only applied on one side. Ask an admin to re-sync it.

A quick pre-flight before a scheduled event: confirm the arenas you want are built and tested (that is the builder's job), make sure the main server is online, and decide your format (how many games, teams or free-for-all, casual or ranked).

The tournament menu

Run /tournament menu (or /teams menu, they are the same command) to open Tournament Control, the hub you will spend the whole event in. Every button is a click, there is nothing to memorise.

ButtonWhat it does
Tournament: ON / OFFThe master switch. When ON, players are on teams, wins score points, and the live standings show on everyone's scoreboard. Turn this on first.
Schedule a GamePick a game, a map, and a countdown. The match auto-starts when the timer hits zero.
Start a VoteLet players pick the next game. You choose how long the vote runs; the winner starts itself.
Manage TeamsAssign players to teams, auto-balance by skill, shuffle randomly, or clear everyone.
Team CountHow many teams the event fields. Left-click steps up the ladder (8 → 10 → 16 → 32 → 64), right-click steps back. Set this to match your player count before you build teams; shrinking it mid-event drops anyone whose team no longer exists.
Vote Game PoolChoose which games a Start a Vote (and Auto-Rotation) can draw from. Trim it to the games your maps are built for so players never vote in something that has no arena.
Event BrandingSet the season and event number shown in the scoreboard title (for example "S42 Event 5").
Auto-Rotation: ON / OFFHands-free mode. After each match ends it queues the next one for you (by vote or a preset list).
ELO: Counts / OffWhether this event affects players' skill ratings. Turn off for casual or exhibition events.
Reset ScoresWipe every team's score to zero. Click once to arm it, wait out a five-second safety delay, then click again to confirm, so a wipe can never fire on a misclick.
Conclude & ArchiveEnd the event: celebrate the winning team with fireworks, save the final standings to the website, and clear scores and teams for next time. Two clicks to confirm.
Cancel ScheduledCall off a running countdown or open vote before it fires. Only active while something is queued; otherwise the slot reads "Nothing scheduled".
LightshowLaunch a 60-second fireworks and laser show with an accelerated sunset over the hub spawn. Click again while it runs to stop it early. Handy for filling the gap between games.

Get players in

Players do not join the event server directly. They wait in a lobby and win a seat through a ticket lottery run with the /event command. This keeps events fair and the server from being swamped. Paid ranks and players who missed previous draws get weighted odds automatically.

CommandWhat it does
/event open <slots>Open a lottery right now with this many seats. Everyone in the lobby is entered immediately.
/event schedule <delay> [slots]Open now but draw later (for example 20m). Posts a live countdown to Discord so people can show up in time.
/event whitelist add <player>Guarantee a named player a seat (they are drawn first). Great for casters and guests.
/event statusSee whether a lottery is open and how many players are enrolled.
/event draw [n]Draw the winners now (a suspense countdown plays, then winners are warped in).
/event closeStop taking new entries.

Typical flow: /event open 40 to open 40 seats, let the lobby fill for a few minutes, then /event draw to warp the winners in. For a promoted event, /event schedule 20m 40 gives people a 20-minute heads-up in Discord.

Set up teams

First decide how many teams you want with the Team Count button on the main menu (8, 10, 16, 32, or 64). Set it before you assign anyone, since shrinking the count later drops players off teams that no longer exist. Then open Manage Teams. For most events the fastest path is one click:

  • Auto-Balance spreads players across teams by skill rating, so no team is stacked. Best for competitive events.
  • Shuffle splits everyone randomly and evenly. Best for casual fun.
  • Clear All empties every team so you can start over.

To fine-tune, click a team to select it, then left-click a player's head to add them and shift-click to remove them. You can also do it from chat, which works even for offline players:

CommandWhat it does
/teams add <player> <team>Put a player on a team. The team name is forgiving: "red", "red team", and "Red Team" all work.
/teams remove <player>Take a player off their team.
/teams listShow current standings and rosters. Anyone can run this, players included.

Run the games

There are three ways to queue a match. Pick whichever fits your event.

  • Schedule a Game (you choose): pick game → map → countdown. You are in full control of the running order. Best for a planned bracket.
  • Start a Vote (players choose): everyone multi-selects from the game list and the winner starts automatically. Best for keeping a crowd engaged.
  • Auto-Rotation (hands-free): flip it ON and the server queues the next game after each match ends, either by opening a vote or cycling a preset list. Best for long, low-effort sessions.

When you schedule a game, if a map has several supported team sizes you can set the size right in the map picker before choosing the start countdown. No map loaded for a game? It falls back to that game's default world automatically.

Watch the event unfold with /teams list at any time. Scores update live on the scoreboard as matches finish.

Brand your event

Open Event Branding from the menu to set a season number and an event number. These show up in the scoreboard title everyone sees (for example, S42 Event 5). Set either value to zero to hide it. Changes apply live, so you can tweak it mid-event without a restart.

Moderation

If someone is disrupting the event, moderation commands work from anywhere on Meltdown and apply everywhere at once. These need the moderator permission (eventproxy.punish), which Host and above have.

CommandWhat it does
/mute <player> [duration] [reason]Silence chat. Leave the duration off for permanent, or use 30m, 2h, 7d.
/kick <player> [reason]Disconnect a player immediately. They can rejoin.
/ban <player> [duration] [reason]Remove a player. Same duration format as mute; no duration means permanent.
/punishments <player>Review a player's recent history before you act.

Punishments are network-wide, logged, and posted to Discord. Reach for a mute or kick during an event; save bans for clear rule-breaking and prefer a preset reason so appeals are consistent. The full rules are the yardstick.
